The first weekend of December they have a holiday parade that's only a few blocks from our house. Our kids liked it well enough, not as much as the last time we went. It was frigid down there, and it started snowing at a pretty good clip during the parade and our tour of the Holiday Lights at the Beach (one of those drive-thru light thingies, on the Va Beach Boardwalk). The weekend was nice, a nice and quick (and inexpensive) getaway. Except it was cold walking on the beach (5 surfers had the ocean all to themselves), cold walking on the streets, and cold cold cold. Kids complain about this sort of thing, and suck all the fun out of it. There was talk of stopping at Williamsburg to visit the Yankee Candle store they have there, but the crowds dissuaded us.
Had my first Steak & Shake double in Fredericksburg, aint too shabby for fast-food burgers.
Our son, Bobby is 9, going on 10 in February. If you don't have 9-year old boys, you don't know what this means for your food budget. I watched him polish off a full plate at every meal, a full....man-sized plate. Two waffles in one sitting (I could only eat one). On the plus side, I guess I'll have some help with yard work soon enough. My god, that kid can eat.
Let's just pretend that there's no such team at these "Washington Redskins" they keep talking about. Let's just pretend it's 1983, the Redskins won the Super Bowl, and the franchise folded that year......and.....end scene.
God, I want to embrace the fantasy but I can't do it, Mr. Rourke. Bums. Friggin' awful. So awful that Sam and Sonny (and the announcer-guy) had trouble coming up with any adjective besides "bad." Where's Tattoo when you need him?
Grudging respect for the Big Rapist last night. I had my nose busted like that, too. It hurts and squirts a little blood but it's not unmanageable. But, what with his foot injury and the nose injury in that cold weather - I gotta believe that the desire to have a seat was pretty strong, and he didn't do it. Thus, I guess, the legend of Ben Roethlisberger grows larger.
Whatever. Patriots beat both of those teams. I think the AFC's coming down to the Pats and Jets. We'll see who gains the upper hand tonight, should be fun.
I'm out! Enjoy my follow-up act, Burgermeister.
